This is a 12-month program, starting June 1, 2009. You
will make Sampler blocks in eight of the months, and the connecting blocks,
sashing, sashing corner squares in the other 4 months. The advantage
to doing it this way is that you will have a finished quilt top in 12
months, not just 12 blocks, eliminating the need for a finishing kit at the
end of the 12 months.
Because it will be impossible to kit these as individual
blocks, it will be necessary to purchase the kit in the beginning, so you
will have all your fabrics coordinate. You will also be able to choose
your color scheme. I am doing a red/tan with brown accents. Some
have chosen blue/tan with brown accents. Other choices have been
black/tan with red accents. Green/tan with copper accents, and so on.
You get the picture. I will do a paste-up sheet for you, so you will
know which fabrics go where.
Plastic templates are available, but not required.
Paper templates are given each month, so you can cut them out & laminate
them to use, or measure the template & rotary cut, which is the way I am
doing them. If you would like the plastic templates, let me know, so
that I can order them for you. The templates are $18.00.
The cost averages $10.00 a month for a total for fabric of
$120.00, but remember - there will be NO finishing kit at the end of the
year. Each month you will receive a pattern for a slight cost of just
$1.00 each month to cover printing, for a total of $12.00. Cost will
be $1.50 each month for mail order patterns, for a total of $18.00.
If you prepay for the entire year, it will be $12.00, the
same as if you were picking up the block. What a deal, huh!
